The HK Retail Calendar in 2026

Hong Kong shoppers used to face two separate sale cycles: the Western Christmas-New Year window and the mainland 11.11 / 12.12 livestream events. In 2026 those two cycles have effectively merged, and HKTVmall, Shopee HK, Lazada HK, ZALORA, Decathlon, and the major mall operators (Sun Hung Kai, Henderson, Sino, Wharf, Link, MTR Malls) all run continuous overlapping promotions from late October through mid-February.

Not all sale days are equal. Some — 11.11 in particular — produce genuine 30-50% drops on electronics and fashion. Others — like "Singles Day Extended" or "Cyber Saturday" — are mostly marketing extensions of existing promo cycles. The table below groups the year by category.

The Real Discounting Days

March: HKBA "March Madness" + Spring Beauty (medium impact)

Sasa, Bonjour, Watsons run their post-CNY clearance. Cosmetics and skincare hit 20-35% discount. The strongest deals are usually on Korean and Japanese beauty (Innisfree, Laneige, Hada Labo) — Western brands stay close to RRP. For a deeper look at local beauty retailers, see our Sa Sa, Bonjour, Colourmix comparison.

June: 618 Mid-Year Mega Sale (high impact)

The mainland's mid-year flagship sale event, run by JD, Tmall, Pinduoduo, and replicated in Hong Kong by HKTVmall and the Watsons China brands. Electronics, kitchen appliances, and phones hit their non-11.11 low. If you cannot wait until November, this is the second-best window for a new fridge or air-conditioner. For cross-border options, check our Cross-Border Tmall Global from Hong Kong guide.

August: Back-to-School + Summer Travel (medium impact)

Decathlon, Sport B, Eslite books, and the major MTR mall sports retailers run 20-30% off. Klook, KKday, and Trip.com run "last-minute summer" travel bundles — sometimes the deepest of the year for Japan flight+hotel packages. For more on travel deals, see our Japan and Korea Travel Group Buys from Hong Kong comparison.

September-October: Pre-Sale Drops (high impact, hidden)

The most under-appreciated window. Tmall, Taobao, and JD start pre-sale deposits for 11.11 in early October — final prices are locked in but only payable in November. Smart buyers lock the deposit early to guarantee stock without committing the full payment.

11 November: Double 11 / Singles Day (peak impact)

The single best day of the year for electronics, fashion, kitchen appliances, beauty in bulk, and pet supplies on the mainland platforms. HKTVmall and Shopee HK run aggressive matching promotions. Cross-border tuán-gòu volumes hit their annual peak; expect 3-7 day delays in HK consolidation. For a full overview of the practice, read Cross-Border Tuán-Gòu.

29 November: Black Friday (medium-high impact)

The Western retail event still matters in HK for: Apple products, Dyson, Bose/Sony/JBL, North Face / Patagonia / Arc'teryx, and luxury goods at Lane Crawford and Joyce. Most of the HK mall retailers price-match Apple and Dyson on this day. Not as deep as 11.11 for generic electronics. For Apple-specific savings, see our Apple iPhone, AirPods and MacBook Group Buys guide.

12 December: Double 12 (medium impact)

Originally a clearance event for 11.11 leftover stock, now a substantive sale day in its own right. Strongest in: home appliances, beauty multi-packs, baby goods. Often slightly deeper discounts than 11.11 on slow-moving SKUs. For home essentials, check our Home & Living Group Buys guide.

26 December: Boxing Day (medium impact, HK-specific)

Luxury fashion clearance — Lane Crawford, Joyce, Harvey Nichols, Joyce Beauty, K11 Musea. Up to 50-70% on fashion overstock. Bonus: 26 December has been the strongest day in recent years for Causeway Bay watch dealers (Tudor, Rolex grey-market, Cartier discount).

15 January-15 February: Pre-CNY and Post-CNY Clearance (medium impact)

The two-week pre-CNY window has high prices on traditional goods (mooncakes, hampers, gold) but the post-CNY clearance — the first 10 days of the new lunar year — is excellent for fashion overstock and home appliances. Linen, bedding, and small kitchen goods drop 30-50%. For seasonal gift strategies, see Group-Buy Mooncakes, Hampers and Chinese New Year Gifts.

Days to Skip

Treat the following as marketing extensions of bigger events rather than discrete sales:

  • Cyber Monday — a marginal continuation of Black Friday in HK.
  • "Singles Day Extended" / 11.11 follow-up days — leftovers, not new deals.
  • "Mid-Autumn Special" — mooncakes only, no useful general retail.
  • "Spring Sale" generic banners between March and May — usually 5-10% off on items already discounted at 11.11.

How to Prepare

  1. Build a wish-list in HKTVmall, Shopee HK, Tmall and JD throughout October. Pre-sale deposits open early November.
  2. Stack platform coupons with credit card promos. HSBC RewardCash, Citi PrestigeMiles, and DBS Black Card all run their largest 11.11 multipliers. For more on this, see our Hong Kong Credit Card Promotions guide.
  3. For cross-border, join your 團長's pre-order list by late October. Last-minute joiners in November pay a 10-20% rush premium.
  4. Set price-tracking alerts on Apple, Dyson, and key fashion SKUs. Many HK prices revert by 1-3 December — Black Friday alone is not always the floor.
